Tang Xin, the talented writer of Time Shadows, has had a secret crush on her handsome and rich boss, Tang Yu, for over four years. To win Tang Yu’s heart, she has tried various methods, even some unusual ones. When she discovers that Tang Yu likes her best friend, she decides to help him pursue her friend. Tang Xin makes a deal with Tang Yu to help him pursue her best friend and at the same time spend more time with him. She knew that her friend was into someone else so she planned to use her friend’s rejection to create a chance for her to comfort him and get closer to him.
However, Tang Xin’s plan takes an unexpected turn. Tang Yu proves to be more resilient than she thought, and she fails to get the chance she hoped for. Tang Yu impressively solves a problem related to moving a film and TV base, showing his excellent strategic thinking. Assistant Gao Heng praises him, but Tang Yu tells him not to use insincere flattery. Gao Heng quickly changes his attitude.

Then we see Tang Xin in the parking garage where she lies about her car needing maintenance and dismisses Gao Heng. Tang Yu surprises her by making her the driver instead of the co-driver. Tang Yu helps adjust her seat, leaving Tang Xin with a fluttering heart. As she drives, she avoids Gao Heng and narrowly avoids a car accident.
At home, Tang Yu’s sister Tang Dingding tells him their parents argue about him being single. Tang Yu convinces his mother to talk about company stocks instead. Tang Xin worries Gao Heng might expose her lies, so she bribes him. Tang Yu misunderstands, thinking she’s interested in Gao Heng.
The copyright for Tang Xin’s novel is expiring, and there’s doubt about renewal. Despite its quality, it’s not Tang Yu’s preferred genre. Tang Xin wants to fight for it, considering it’s her hard work.
To get closer to Tang Yu, Tang Xin gets a gym membership and posts workout photos on social media. Tang Yu notices and they interact. Tang Xin discusses her novel, proposing that if she writes a good script, Tang Yu becomes the producer, creating more chances to be with him.
