My Boss Episode 1 Story: “Cheng Yao and Qian Heng Double Rent THE Same Apartment”
In the first episode, we see Cheng Yao, a talented lawyer played by Zhang Ruonan. She faces a challenging situation during a dinner meeting with her client. Her client turns out to be a pervert. Despite feeling uncomfortable somehow she handles the situation involving also her best friend.
However, her night takes an unexpected turn when a rich woman makes an unusual proposition to a younger man at a bar. Cheng Yao is impressed by the man’s professionalism refusing “an indecent proposal” and engaging in anything other than business. This encounter empowers her to stand up against her client. Cheng Yao fails to negotiate the contract and decides to leave the law firm, standing firm on her belief of not compromising her principles.
As the episode proceeds, we see that Cheng Yao finds a new job at the Junheng Law Firm and she finds a house near the office for rent. Her happiness is soon over when she finds that her house was also rented by the man being offered to work as a “gigolo” at the bar. The landlord suggests to share the house to which Cheng Yao had to agree. Reluctantly, Cheng Yao had to agree to this arrangement not realizing that her housemate was Qian Heng, one of the bosses at Junheng Law Firm.
Cheng Yao, still thinking that Qian Heng is a kind of gigolo, sets strict rules about bringing women to the house. Qian Heng, annoyed by her talking about his assumed profession, reveals his true identity as one of Cheng Yao’s superiors at the law firm.
The next day, Cheng Yao discovered that she would work as Qian Heng’s assistant, making their relationship much more weird. Qian Heng warned her to keep things professional and warned her to keep from developing any feelings. Puzzled by the whole situation, Cheng Yao shares everything with her best friend and ex-colleague who is now pregnant and has some concerns about her wedding.
Things don’t go smoothly between Cheng Yao and Qian Heng especially when she accidentally damages a prized possession of Qian Heng while sneaking his room. Cheng Yao is kicked out of the house after a heated confrontation between the two leads. With nowhere else to go, her only option was to use the company’s well-equipped rest area.
